Installing applications

Because this is a PNA and not a full blown PDA, some features are missing. You will not be able to install every kind of portable applications you like. Some works – others don’t because of missing system files (due to the fact that this is a stripped down wince device). Most of the navigation programs available for PDA devices will work however. But the installation procedure may vary.
The applications you want to install needs to be windows ce 5.0 compatible and supporting the ARM926T processor
Installing exe files
If you have the executable files for the program that you want to install you can simply copy the files onto your SD memory card.
I have collected a small collection of programs that you can copy straight onto your memory card and play around with. The collection contains among others a divx player, calculator, file managers, file viewers and editors, an MP3 player, registry editors, screenshot creator and more. Installing CAB files
The Windows CE installation cabinet format was designed by Microsoft make it easy to create packaged software for the Windows CE platform. After generating all his executable programs, data files, help files and so on, a developer can then write an "installation script" which lists the name of the software package, where each file should be installed on the target device's filesystem, registry entries to make on the target system's Windows Registry, and so on.
You might have problems installing cab files on this device. I haven't been able to install a single application using cab files at this time. But do not fear.
What you need to do is to extract the files from the cab file. There are many tools out there that can do this. I am fond of freeware software so you can download the tool MSCEinf to extract the contents of cab files. Some people prefer to buy the $99 PE explorer software from heaventools
Then simply transfer the extracted files to your memory stick. Please note that you will need to edit registry if this is needed for the software to function.
